What to do with left-over pulp ….
Hello!
It has been some time since I’ve been in touch. (Sorry for that … where do the days go?)
I’ve been busy re-organizing, working on my classes and workshop, and at the same time trying to get back to some healthier, empowering habits (such as juicing) – - I haven’t been as diligent as I used to be and frankly I feel it! Not only that, but my ‘neglect’ shows! My skin, eyes, and nails aren’t as vibrant as they used to be! So here I am, bringing my juicer back out on to the counter top and trying to once more get in the habit of using it – daily!
I prefer juiced drinks over blended drinks. There is a difference between the two. With blended drinks the pulp is part of the drink; juicing removes the pulp. There are great arguments for which is better for you nutritionally, but personally I prefer ‘juicing’. I feel less ‘full’ and I can easily drink a full glass at one sitting.
I’m often asked what I do with left-over pulp so I want to share a few ideas . . .
Make some delicious dehydrated crackers with the pulp. Add some seasoning, flaxseeds and/or sunflower seeds and create some marvelously light nutritional crackers.
To a thick dressing, add pulp and some seasonings to create a terrific veggie dip..
Add to any recipe (e.g. bread, cookies, burgers, pate etc) to ‘bulk it up’
Add to seed cheese with some diced up veggies and seasonings.
Use in veggie or nori wrap.
Add to soup.
Create ‘treats’ your animals will love by dehydrating pulp in patties or add ‘as is’ to their dry mix. If your animal is raw, serve with their raw meal. The pulp provides a better supply of fiber and nutrients than cereal-based pet foods.
As a last resort, blend it with some water and pour the mix in your garden!

CAUTION: ATTEMPTING A 100% RAW FOOD DIET THIS SEASON CAN HURT YOU
The air has a nip to it, and the leaves up north are changing colors rapidly – Fall is here and Winter is soon approaching.
It is no secret to those who know me that I am always encouraging people to make healthier dietary changes by incorporating more raw whole plant foods into their diet. More is better in my opinion. I’m a walking example of the numerous benefits we all can enjoy eating a high raw food diet ….. more energy, looking and feeling better, weight loss, and improved health. So why not go 100% raw … now? (The sooner the better right?) Why am I sending out this word of caution?
Because I’m interested in seeing people happy, and enjoying success in their life. Because stress IS harmful to the body.
We’re experiencing colder weather and the most challenging (dietary) holidays are descending upon us. Except for the most ardent, strong-willed, determined person most of you will face an enormous challenge making big changes in your diet this time of year, especially if you attempt practicing 100% raw. In fact most people this time of year are severely challenged just to keep their current “healthy diet” status.
When the weather turns cold our first inclination is to have HOT, cooked (comfort) foods. Many people find it difficult to remain raw when the temperature drops. Add to the weather factor the numerous parties, gatherings, and holiday events coming up and even the most ardent raw foodist is challenged to stay raw (yes, it IS easier the longer you’ve been raw).
Take the stress and the challenge out of improving your diet (yes even going 100% raw) by allowing yourself the time and right conditions to ensure your success. Going 100% raw AFTER the holidays is easier than BEFORE the holidays. Why not make it your New Year’s resolution to start 100% raw then and use the upcoming months to transition (taking steps) to that point – it will be less stressful and more enjoyable. Some of those transitional steps could be: giving up caffeine in lieu of the wine, or replace chocolate goodies with carob treats instead, or eating only natural Credit union location Washington Seattle Cascade Federal Credit Union simple – enjoy whole fresh raw fruits and vegetables with abandon.

Arthritis – Are you one in three people suffering from arthritis?

ARE YOU THE ONE OF THREE PEOPLE SUFFERING FROM ARTHRITIS?
-It is estimated that by 2030, 40% of the American population will be suffering from one or another form of arthritis.
- Currently 46 million Americans, or 21% adults, suffer from this disease, but with the rise in obesity and an aging Credit union location Nebraska Omaha Greater Omaha Federal Credit Union in uncooked fresh fruits and vegetables)are helpful in alleviating or even eliminating symptoms of arthritis. Whole plant foods include: carrots, spinach, beet greens, broccoli, kale, parsley, ginger root, apple, pineapple, cherries and blueberries, most nuts (walnuts in particular), and seeds (pumpkin, sunflower, flax, chia and hemp seeds all highly recommended). The raw food diet is particularly high in all of these nutrients.
I was diagnosed with R/A throughout my whole body (“….comparable to a 94 year old,” my doctor told me) and told I would be bedridden and crippled; I wasn’t even close to 50 years old! The raw food diet successfully eliminated my arthritic symptoms and I have enjoyed years of pain-free living. I feel better today (age 57) than I did in my 20’s.
I wouldn’t say I’ve ‘cured’ my arthritis, in fact my hip is showing signs of osteoarthritis (wear and tear) – I’m an aggressive competitive tennis player, but I have better control over the symptoms. Through healthy juicing, stricter diet controls, and a well-thought out exercise program I hope to improve the condition of my hip significantly, re-building the cartilage from the ‘inside out’.
The raw food diet continues to build my body with the proper nutrients, eliminate toxins that are creating inflammation, and repair what needs repairing. Our bodies, as is our health, is too important to ignore………………..when I start to gravitate away from the basics, I suffer — joint pain is a signal that I’m not ‘paying attention.’
If you too are experiencing aches, pains, and stiffness, isn’t it time you start ‘paying attention’ and get down to the cause, take aggressive dietary action, and not just cover up the symptoms?
